Today I'm at 34 weeks. Its crazy how time flies. She's still kicking like crazy, reminding me everyday that she's still there. Like I could forget! Yesterday I had a regular checkup and Katelyn is measuring a little small but she's very healthy so its nothing to worry about. I had an ultrasound so I got to see her face which is an amazing thing to see. Last night Brad and I had our first Child Prep class at the hospital. It was fun and we got to learn a lot for our first class. He even wore a 25 lb. pack to see what it'd feel like to be pregnant. To bad we couldn't take it home so he could wear it for a week to really see how it feels!!! Anyways there are a lot of other interesting things that we learned, for example dilation, effacement, and station which are very important. Here's how the baby is growing...
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
