Pool time!

On Sunday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to visit with Uncle Kevin, Aunt Hillary and cousing Jack as they were here for the weekend. They set up a pool for us to play in and we had a blast! Below are some pictures that mommy took of us.

Jack and I waiting patiently to go outside!

Waiting with my shades on! :)

Can we get in yet??!!

Ok daddy, I'll wait with you.

Finally pool time!

Splish splash!

A much needed break time for the both of us.

Uncle Kevin poured water on my head!

And then I poured water on my head!!! We had so much fun!

How your baby's growing:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Mother's Day gift

I received my Mother's Day gift today. The item I wanted was a necklace that had Katelyn's and Mitch's names on it and I found the perfect one online. Of course it was the week of Mother's Day when I found it and it took 2-3 weeks to get in the mail after ordering. It is also hand stamped which makes it even more unique. I absolutely love it! It is something I will love to wear everyday. Here are a couple shots of it...
The whole necklace.

Mitch's crib

Today we received the crib mattress and so of course I had to put everything on it! The bedding came straight out of the box so it'll have to come back off and be washed in the future, but I just wanted to see it all put together. It looks great and I'm excited. Katelyn decided to 'help' by standing there watching me and bringing me the needed item that I pointed to! She tried to take Mitch's blanket which is just like hers, however I had to point out that it is not pink, but blue. So she went and got hers instead. The bumpers are seperate pieces for each side so I will have to figure out how to tie them on later (for the picture I just placed them in). I love the colors.

We also decided that instead of dealing with the hassle of painting that we'd do the wall decals that came with the set. They are the circle/animals that you see in the quilt on the crib. I will do that at some other time and I'll be sure to take pictures of that as well. All in all I think it'll turn out great and he will love it!

(Katelyn felt she needed to be in the pictures!)

26 weeks

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your husband's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Helping daddy

Yesterday we took everything out of the boxes and put together Mitch's crib. Katelyn decided that she would help daddy out. It was funny. Here are a couple pictures and then the finished product.

I ordered the crib mattress and am just waiting for that to arrive then I will put the bedding on, I can't wait to see it all put together! Today Brad installed shelving in the closet so I can start putting away all of the items I've been collecting and putting on the floor. I feel anxious and cannot wait to bring Mitch home!

We have furniture!

Yesterday we bought the furniture for Mitch's nursery. It took us awhile to decide but I think we came to a great decision on what we wanted. Of course we wanted to go the convertible route like we did with Katelyn's. So we found at BuyBuy Baby the Hudson Collection by Bonavita. It looks great and I think will work well for his room. We got the crib, double dresser, nightstand and the rails for both the toddler and full size bed. Unfortunately the nightstand was a special order so we'll have to wait for that but the great thing was the crib and dresser were in stock and we could bring them home the same day! One less thing to worry about! (I want to thank Kevin and Hillary for all of their help and info on BuyBuy Baby!) Here are pictures of the furniture. The color is chocolate which is a really pretty brown.

How your baby's growing

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Mitch has recently been kicking up a storm! He seems to be awake mid morning and evening. Last night at 11 he was letting me know he was still in there! I'm not complaining (except when its to the ribs), I absolutely love it! I am trying to get Katelyn to feel it but she is never quick enough...oh well, it'll happen eventually. Speaking of Katelyn, she loves to see my belly and touch it. She will even kiss my belly - so cute! She knows its baby Mitch in there :)

Dear Mitch,

Pretty please stop kicking me in the ribs! Thank you. With love, mommy.

24 weeks

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
