house update

As of today the walls have all been taped and mudded, we are just waiting for them to sand it all down. After this is finished we can prep the house to be painted probably two weeks from today. Brad has to sand certain areas of the floor since they bowed a little when they were exposed to rain. I can't wait for paint though! Then cabinets should be installed, next would be the floors. The bricking is almost completed and should be finished today. All that has to be done after that is they spray it all down to clean it all off and then done! Yay! Everything is coming together pretty quickly. We are hoping the lighting will be ordered sometime this week after we get all the final details down. We are planning on installing all of the outside doorknobs soon as well. Here are some pictures of the walls and brick...

Here is whats left for the brickers to complete today!

Halloween, bruises and more...

Over the weekend Katelyn and I did some shopping which included her Halloween costume. Brad and I found out that Carter's made a duck costume similar to her ladybug costume that she wore last year and immediately thats what we wanted for her. It seemed appropriate since she loves her duckie so much! We found it at Elder-Beerman and while we were there picked up a few 12 month shirts as well as a new dress for the wedding this up coming weekend. She will look cute in pink!
Her duck costume.
Her new dress!

Yesterday Katelyn and I were in the living room while Brad was working in the office. Katelyn was playing with Lacey, like usual when all of a sudden Lacey ran into Katelyn causing her to fall into the entertainment center pretty hard. Tears were hard and immediate. She hit the side of her head directly on her ear. It was turning red and blue right away and has become very pretty shades of purple and blue since then. We did get her calmed down and now knows where her current booboo is! Ugh it was heartbreaking to hear her cry. It is very obvious the distinction between fake, real and painful. I tried to get a picture of it but a) she couldn't sit still and b) I couldn't get the camera to focus!

I did get a few shots of us playing in her room later that evening though. I swear with her pretty blue eyes she could be a toddler model!

Daddy's socks!

Katelyn found a pair of daddy's socks on the floor yesterday and decided she had to put them on! Here are a couple of pictures and a video that I shot. The video is 2 minutes long but funny!

Congratulations are in order.

I chose to keep it quiet but was given the okay to finally say that my little sister Laura has gotten engaged to her lovely boyfriend Josh. They've been inseparable ever since they started dating! We are all so very happy for them and wish them the best. I don't know all of the details but I do know that it happened on Saturday. Congrats guys!

8/13/05

Five years ago, 1826 days ago, I married my best friend, my confidant, my love. That was a wonderful and beautiful day that we shared with each other and our family & friends. I will never forget that day. Since then we've had so much fun together and planning our lives. I couldn't imagine my life without him. The past five years flew by. We have Katelyn, the love of our lives. We are now building a home for our family. Happy Anniversary honey, I cannot wait to see what the next five years may hold.

Drywall

Drywall has been put up in most of the house so far. They have done a great job and it is really going pretty quickly. The rooms are now easy to imagine now that they are walled off. Its fun now to walk through!

Quick update

I don't have my camera on hand at the moment so I will try to post pictures soon, but the house now has insulation and a partial of the back side of the house is bricked. It is looking so great! The plumbing, electric and building inspections all passed this week. The garage doors arrived two days ago and look great. Our kitchen cabinets are arriving today, hopefully! They will be stored in our garage until installation occurs. We are hoping that the drywall will be started next week.

Tonight we are meeting with the woman who helped us with all of our flooring to make sure we have everything set to go. I can't wait to see how the carpet, wood and tile floors will turn out. Picking these out so far was the easiest! She's also going to help us with our master shower. We, I mean I, wanted a walk in doorless shower but we are coming to the conclusion that the shower is not big enough to not have a door. Water will most likely splash out. Its disappointing but what can you do? We will go with a glass door if our suspicions turn out right tonight.

We are meeting with our cabinet guy on Saturday to look at all of our samples for the kitchen and bathrooms to pick out our paint colors. We received a big paint chip book from a guy who may be painting our house so we will use that and get our color ideas. Picking paint so far, in my opinion, has been the hardest part! - Stay tuned for pictures! -
